Right now I am working my way through the articles written by Ray Peat on his website: www.raypeat.com
It sounds very interesting and logically.
In general his diet includes:
fruit, milk, meat (low intake of muscle meat though), eventually potatoes, saturated fats
Vegetables are overrated and can cause gut irritation since plants have toxins for defense. The PUFAs have to be reduced as much as possible, and then the sugar metabolism of fructose is working fine.
I just read and read and found that it has quite some things in common with other diets (paleo, Wai, heck even 811). I mean 811 is doing everything right in eating lots of fruit and reducing the PUFAs. I think 811 PLUS saturated fats = the bomb! Maybe then Doug Graham wouldn’t look as old as he does :)
The milk thing I am not sure about yet (he recommends up to 2 quarts of milk per day). I don’t believe that pasteurized is good but even raw milk in that amounts…?But for the rest everything sounds logical. Who was it telling me that low carb causes stress and can lead to problems? Dangph I think?
Having read this site, I tend to believe that it’s true. I just have to figure out if I can still lose fat while eating more fruit. Leaving the veggies could be hard because I really like them but I think steamed they are better to digest.
I especially like his explanations about the hormones (thyroid and female hormones)and their connection to diet.Ray Peat anyone?, 100% based on 2 ratings
